Based on the latest report of news-press.com, Florida is the country’s highest foreclosure rate for the second consecutive month. RealtyTrac released a report that in Florida, there are 310,119 foreclosure homes. In every 312 housing units, one is filing for foreclosure. However, in Lee County there was only one per 372 housing units, making it 21st in the state for foreclosures. Moreover, this month, records revealed that in every 411 housing units, one Fort Myers foreclosures have been filed in October 2012.
In the other 34 counties in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York, individual assistance by FEMA are being given; a total of 6,380 properties had foreclosure filings in October, which is down by 8 percent from September but an increase of 92 percent from October of last year.
During the first half of the year, there are about 12, 644 Lee County homeowners who filed for foreclosure. Collier and Charlotte County's saw about a third of that number in the same time frame. Respectively, there are 3,480 foreclosure notices for Collier and 3,281 in Charlotte. The area with the largest jump this year is in Tampa. In Tampa, foreclosure filings are up by 47 percent. Other areas that have a surprising jump are Philidelphia with 30 percent increase and Chicago with 28 percent.
